DIVINATION

By using different forms of Divination the Shaman or Medium is able to open up lines of communication with Spirit. Divination encompasses both the art of prophesying the future and the ability to interpret events currently taking place or having occurred in the not to distant past. In the ancient world, divination was an inseparable part of religion, since it was used to communicate with the divine will.

Practiced by the Romans, Greeks, Egyptians, Persians and Hebrews as well as the Assyrians and Babylonians, many forms of divination continue today. Just to name a few: Astrology (the reading of the planets and stars in direct relation to the date and time that you were born), Tarot (the reading of cards), Palmistry (the reading of the lines of the hand), Numerology (the reading of related numbers), Oneiromancy (dream interpretation), Rune casting (the reading of stones), or Tasseomancy (the reading of tea leaves or coffee grounds). The Babylonians developed the art of astrology which is still recognized by most people today by reading their horoscope in the daily newspaper.

As you can see, for ages, people around the world have resorted to divination in an attempt to lift the “veil of forgetfulness” that surrounds humankind. Two of these oracles, Astrology and Tarot, are very complicated and require years of study and practice thereby yielding many secrets unable to be reached by some of the other types of divination. Interpreting accurately is a gift possessed by persons who are able to communicate directly with Spirit, either in a state of trance, through dreams, or through the use of these types of ancient oracles.

Learning to be a great diviner indicates that you must first accept what the cards or stars reveal about your character for only after you acknowledge their supreme intervention can you become a spiritual adept yourself.
